Weather and water protection

Protecting the climate and the atmosphere is one of the most important tasks of our time. Find out how HiPP uses renewable energy and technical innovations to protect the climate and water.

Use of renewable resources

The sustainable use of resources and the protection of biodiversity are fundamental to our management of sustainability.

HiPP had already made a significant contribution to climate protection long before politicians formulated the goal of reducing CO2. Since 1995, we have converted the entire energy supply at the Pfaffenhofen plant to renewable energy sources (green electricity, biomass, solar energy) and now we manufacture CO2-neutral products. More than 90% of the energy used in Pfaffenhofen comes from renewable energy sources.

CO2 emissions from fossil fuel energies (eg business travel) are offset by global climate projects.

Since 2001, all the heat, hot water and steam demands at the HiPP factory have been covered by the use of biomass (wood chips). In 2011, HiPP received the German Solar Award for its exemplary use of renewable energy.

We work with "green electricity" from hydroelectric plants, without nuclear energy.

Since 2000, 6 solar projects have been carried out, producing a total of 52,800 kWh / a of solar energy on a collector area of 436 m². All organic waste goes to agricultural biogas plants. Thus, every year 2 million kWh of electricity are generated.

Water as the most important resource of the 21st century

We also create innovative steps for the water resource. To save this increasingly valuable compound, HiPP has used innovative techniques in the last three decades to reduce water use by more than two-thirds.
