1. Data processing

There are two ways in which we receive data: either you have given them to us or we have collected them while you used our services.

1.1 Data you have given to us

Generally, you can use our internet website without giving us your personal information directly. If you use certain services, for example the HiPP BabyClub , the newsletter subscription or the contact form, we will ask you for personal information. This might include, for example, your name, your e-mail address or your postal address. This will make the service in question faster and more user-friendly. Some services cannot even be provided without your data input. For further details on all services offered on hipp.mx please read section 2 of this privacy policy. The legal basis for the appropriate processing of your data is, unless otherwise specified in individual cases, Art. 6 (1) b) GDPR (contract performance or steps prior to entering into a contract).

1.2 Data we receive when you use our services

Some of the data are collected as soon as you visit our website.

1.2.1 Protocol data

The automatically collected data include the web server’s protocol data. Every time you access a page of our online services and every time you download a file, the access data related to this process is saved in a protocol file on our server. Each dataset consists of:

  • the preceding page from which the new page or the file was requested
  • the name of the requested file or page
  • the date and time of the request, whether the request was successful and the server capacity utilization at the time of the request
  • the transferred data volume
  • the IP address which you were assigned by the provider
  • if you log on with a user account, also the login information for the relevant web service
  • the device used (mobile, desktop, etc.) and operating system, as well as
  • the browser software used.

Such stored information is exclusively evaluated anonymously for statistical purposes.

1.2.2 Cookies

Cookies are small files, containing a string of characters, in which certain information is stored either decrypted or encrypted. The server sends cookies to your computer where they are stored. They first serve to identify the computer from which you accessed the website. If you log on to a website, cookies are used to notify the server that you logged on and to check whether you are authorised to access the page. Each cookie has an expiration date, from which it loses its validity. Cookies make it possible to keep track of a user's movements from page to page within the website and even from website to website. Cookies can improve the communication between our server and your computer, making website use much more comfortable. Cookies may not only be supplied by the website operator, they could also be from third-party providers. Your browser offers the option of displaying the cookies on your computer, deleting existing ones or setting the configuration of your computer in a way that not all cookies are stored on your hard disk or none at all. Please note that some functions (e.g. logging on) will not work properly if you disable the acceptance of cookies.

Currently we use cookies on our website for the following purposes, which ensure proper operation:

The legal basis for the appropriate processing of your data is Art. 6 (1) f) GDPR (balancing of interests, based on our legitimate interest in providing users of our website with attractive content and functional services).

1.2.3 etracker

hipp.mx and the related sub-pages use technologies provided by etracker GmbH (“etracker”) to collect and save data in order to improve its website services. These data can also be used to create user profiles under a pseudonym. For this purpose, cookies can be used as described above. Cookies are small text files that are stored in the website visitor's local browser cache. Cookies make it possible to recognise a visitor’s Internet browser. The data gathered by the etracker technologies will not be used to determine the personal identity of a website visitor, and will not be compiled with personal data relating to the person referred to by the pseudonym, unless agreed to separately by the person in question. The collection and storage of data may be revoked at any time with respect to future services:

You don’t see a button? Please deactivate your adblock and reload this website again.

The legal basis for the appropriate processing of your data is Art. 6 (1) f) GDPR (balancing of interests, based on our legitimate interest in understanding the interests of users of our website better and providing them with the most attractive possible content on this basis).

1.2.4 Pixeles

Tracking pixels, web beacons, clear GIFs or similar technologies (collectively known as “pixels”) are small pictures the size of a picture element, which are inserted into a website. These pictures are colourless and transparent, so that they only fulfil their technical function and do not limit your use of the website. For example, pixels are used to follow how often a page is called up or how effective an advertising campaign is. Pixels are often used together with cookies, which are necessary for the technical functionality and for logging your objection.

We use pixels on the HiPP website in order to measure the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns. This means we count which ad integrations have led to which number of visitors to our website. The aim is to improve advertising media and their placement. The count is not linked to a specific person, it is a purely statistical survey. You can object to this count at any time with future effect. We are currently using the following tracking pixels, which you can object to by clicking on the following links:

Please note: if you delete the cookies stored in your browser after your objection, you may have to click on these links once again, as opting out will be documented in cookies.

1.2.5 Google AdWords

For performance measurement for our advertising campaign with Google (“Google AdWords”), we use the aid of Google Conversion Tracking, a Google Inc. (1600 Amphitheater Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA; “Google”) analysis service. In the process, Google AdWords places a cookie on your computer (“conversion cookie”), if you arrived at our website via a Google advert. These cookies cease to be valid after 30 days and do not serve as personal identification. They merely serve to recognise that you clicked on one of our adverts and were thus rerouted to our site. In this way, we find out the total number of users who have clicked on our advert and been forwarded to our website. However, we don’t receive any information with which the users could be personally identified.

Via the performance measurement described, Google receives personal data, which is also stored and processed by servers in the USA. Currently, there is no ruling from the EU Commission that the USA in general provides an adequate level of data privacy protection. Google has, however, made a commitment to adhere to the Privacy Shield Agreement between the EU and the USA on the processing of personal data from EU member states published by the US Department of Commerce. Further information can be found here: https://policies.google.com/privacy/frameworks?hl=de&gl=en. Further information on data protection at Google can be found at https://policies.google.com/privacy?gl=en.

If you do not wish to take part in the tracking procedure, you can deactivate it through the ads preference manager (http://www.google.com/settings/ads/onweb/?hl=de), or refuse placing a cookie by adjusting your browser settings. You can also deactivate cookies for conversion tracking by setting your browser to block cookies from the domain “googleadservices.com”.

The legal basis for the appropriate processing of your data is Art. 6 (1) f) GDPR (balancing of interests, based on our legitimate interest in measuring the success of our online advertising in order to manage it better).

2. Individual services

2.1 Contact Form

Our website also features a contact form, allowing you to get in touch with us if you would like us to answer any of your questions individually. In any event, we will collect your first and last name and your e-mail address so that we can contact you. If you give us your phone number, we will also be happy to call you back to answer your query.

All data are exclusively used for answering your query; they will be used neither for sales conversations nor otherwise for promotional purposes. If you are a member of the HiPP BabyClub, we may also update your contact data, if necessary.

We would be happy to inform you about any data we have stored relating to you. For further details, please read section “Information and Contact”.

The legal basis for the appropriate processing of your data is Art. 6 (1) b) GDPR (contract performance or steps prior to entering into a contract) and Art. 6 (1) f) GDPR (balancing of interests, based on our legitimate interest in answering the enquiries of our customers and other interested parties).

2.2 HiPP BabyClub

You can register for the HiPP BabyClub by creating a profile of you and your baby on hipp.de. By joining the HiPP BabyClub, you will receive a number of benefits, e.g. product samples and gifts. For a current overview of services and benefits, please go to the HiPP BabyClub homepage.

When first registering with HiPP BabyClub, we will collect your name and address data to be able to contact you. We will also collect your e-mail address so that we can verify your registration and send you the newsletter and parents’ letters. We will also collect the name and date of birth of your child, as we will send you, in particular, age-related parents’ letters and product samples. Please make sure that the data in your profile, especially your e-mail and postal addresses, are correct, otherwise we will not be able to include you as a recipient of our benefits.

In addition, we ask you to please provide a username when first registering. If you would like to participate in our interactive offers, your username will be shown to indicate your contribution. The username is used when you review products, for example. Your contributions are published under your username and are visible for other visitors. When choosing a username, please do not use your real name if you do not want this information to be made public.

As a Club member, you can take part in competitions and prize draws. For participation in competitions and prize draws, please take note of our terms of use and the conditions of entry, which you will find on the respective competition page. In the context of a competition, sometimes personal data, such as a private picture or picture description which you have submitted, is collected and published. In the case of a photo competition, the respective pictures with the user’s added comment and child name are stored and published in the publicly visible gallery.

In addition, we may publish the winners’ first names and first letters of their surnames or their correspondingly chosen data on our website. Some of the prizes are provided by partner companies. As far as is necessary for the redemption or delivery of prizes, we provide our partners with the relevant personal data for the processing of the competition or prize draw within the boundaries of a strictly regulated contract for order data processing. These could be your name, your e-mail address or postal address which are stored in your Club profile. With some competitions or prize draws, entry requires you to perform additional tasks, such as to recommend a friend or to solve a puzzle. In this case, we log whether all conditions for entry are fulfilled to allow for fair running of the competition or prize draw and to protect against misuse of the respective technical functions.

Furthermore, as a club member you benefit from exclusive advantages and special offers from our partners. Provided that a direct online connection exists to a partner’s shop or service, we can communicate the necessary information via technical paths, e.g. via an individually generated link, to the partner.

As a club member you will receive our parents’ letter, which provides you with important information and tips, at your e-mail address. In addition, you will receive information about current products and news in the HiPP BabyClub newsletter. You can withdraw from the newsletter mailing list in the context of HiPP BabyClub at any time. This is easiest via the link in the newsletter or via your customer profile, if you are registered in HiPP BabyClub.

We always strive to keep improving our parents’ letters. This also includes the statistical evaluation of dispatch, e.g. how many parents’ letters were sent in total, how many were opened and how often were the embedded links clicked on. This is a non-personal related evaluation, which means that we cannot trace whether individual parents’ letters were opened or which recipient clicked on which link.

If you do not wish to receive any more product samples or want to terminate your HiPP BabyClub membership please contact us via our contact form.

The legal basis for the processing of your data described in this section is Art. 6 (1) b) GDPR (contract performance or steps prior to entering into a contract).

2.3 Newsletters apart from the HiPP BabyClub

We also offer you the possibility to subscribe or unsubscribe to further newsletters on our products and special offers. For registration and so that we can address you personally, we collect your title, first name and surname. We also collect your e-mail address so that we can verify your registration and send you the newsletter. The data collected during registration is only used for mailing the newsletters. The collected data is not given to uninvolved external companies for their own use, nor is it passed on to any other third parties. If further data is collected while registering for a special offer, the same applies to this data as set out in the specific data protection notices for the special offer.

We are always striving to improve our newsletter and our offers. This also includes statistical evaluation of newsletter mailing, e.g. how many e-mails were sent in total, how many of those were opened and how often the links embedded in the newsletter were clicked on in total. This is a non-personal evaluation; we therefore do not check whether individual newsletters were opened or which links were clicked on from which e-mail address.

In the context of the newsletter registration you agree to the use of your data as described. This consent can be revoked at any time for the future and the mailing of the newsletter can be objected to at any time. This is easiest via the link in the newsletter, where unsubscribing is again described. The withdrawal of consent shall not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.

The legal basis for the processing of your data described in this section is Art. 6 (1) a) GDPR in connection with your consent.

2.4 Contests and raffles

You can participate in competitions and prize draws on our website. In order to be able to offer this service, we collect personal data from you that is necessary before participation. This usually includes your name, e-mail and postal addresses, and in some cases also your telephone number. This data is used solely for carrying out and managing the competition. Following participation, you will not receive any adverts from HiPP. If you are interested in receiving our newsletter, you can register for this separately.

We sometimes publish the names of the winners on our website. Some of the prizes are provided by partner companies. As far as is necessary for the redemption or delivery of the prizes, we provide our partners with the relevant personal data for processing the competition or prize draw, such as your name or your e-mail address or postal address. With some competitions or prize draws, entry requires you to perform additional tasks. In this case, we log whether all conditions for entry are fulfilled to allow for fair running of the competition or prize draw and to protect against misuse of the respective technical functions.

The legal basis for the processing of data described in this section is Art. 6 (1) b) GDPR (contract performance or steps prior to entering into a contract).

2.5 Product tests

On our website you have the possibility to take part in product tests. In order to be able to offer this service, we collect the necessary personal data from you before you participate. This usually includes your name, e-mail and postal address, as well as, in individual cases, your telephone number. This data is only used for processing and executing the product test. After participation, you will not receive any adverts from HiPP.

The legal basis for the processing of data described in this section is Art. 6 (1) b) GDPR (contract performance or steps prior to entering into a contract).

3. Social media

Our page on the social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube) also offer you extensive personal support services and the possibility to stay in contact with us. These social media services also collect personal data, e.g. about the profile you have created or via so-called social plug-ins that are implemented in third-party webpages.

If you send us an enquiry using any of these social media platforms, we will forward the enquiry to the responsible department. The data will exclusively be used to answer your enquiry and will not be forwarded to third parties.

To be able to get in touch with us via social media, you have to register with these services first. For this purpose, the companies behind the service in question will record, store and use personal data if required. We have no influence on the nature, the scope and the processing of such data. This also applies to any images/videos uploaded to social media. Please note that the rights might be transferred to the social media services. You will find the details in the terms and conditions of use and the privacy policy of the respective service provider.

These are services provided by companies based in the U.S.:

Facebook Inc. (1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA)

Google Inc. (1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA)

If you open a webpage belonging to our website which contains such a plug-in, your browser will establish a direct connection to the servers of the respective enterprises. The contents of the plug-in are transmitted directly to your browser and integrated in the website. We therefore have no influence on the scope of data which the enterprises in question record with the help of such plug-ins. The information we are therefore providing to you is based on our current knowledge:

By integrating the plug-ins, the respective companies obtain the information that you have accessed certain pages of our Internet offering. If you are already logged into one of the aforementioned enterprises, these are able to assign your visit to the relevant account you have created with them. If you interact using the plug-ins, your browser will send the relevant information directly to the respective company where it is stored. In case you have no user account with any of the aforementioned companies, there is still a chance that they become aware of your IP address and store it.

So it cannot be ruled out that each visitor of our website is detected by the aforementioned enterprises on the basis of their IP address and the URL accessed, even if the visitor neither clicks on the plug-ins nor is registered with the enterprise with a user account.

To find out more about the purpose and scope of the data collection and further processing and the use of the data by these enterprises and your rights and possibilities in this regard and which settings protect your private sphere, please refer to the privacy policies provided by:

With its interactive map, the app allows HiPP customers to find, post and rate interesting places, such as baby-friendly restaurants, baby care rooms, sales outlets for baby food, etc.

For this purpose, the system also offers a location tracker feature. You are free to take advantage of this feature which tracks your location. If you prefer not to use it, you can enter any location you like to get information. Users can only post ratings or new address tips if they are logged into their HiPP BabyClub account.

To improve our app services we use Google Analytics, a web analysis service of Google Inc. ("Google"). Google Analytics uses so-called "cookies", text files which are stored on your smartphone and enable an analysis of the way you use the website. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website is generally transmitted to a Google server in the U.S. and stored there. In this app, IP anonymization is activated, which means that the users' IP addresses are first truncated by Google within the Member States of the European Union or in other states that are parties to the Treaty on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the U.S. and truncated there. By order of the operator of this app, Google will use this information to evaluate your use of the app, to collate reports about the activities and to render further services connected with the use of the app for the operator of the website. The IP address transmitted by your smartphone within the context of Google Analytics is not combined with other Google data. You can prevent the storage of cookies by a matching setting in your browser software; however we would like to point out that if you do so, you may not be able to make complete use of all of the functions of this app. Additionally, you can prevent the recording of the data generated by the cookie and related to your use of the app (incl. your IP address) by Google and the processing of this data by Google:

5. HiPP Toddlers App/HiPPiS App

HiPPiS animals meet children and parents in diverse educational games and three exciting stories in the HiPP Children’s App. The app is clearly structured and simple to use and offers a total of eight different educational games, as well as adventure stories to read out loud, providing kids with fun and variety, and encouraging the development of cognitive skills in a playful way. Whether it’s learning colors or numbers, guessing animal noises or doing puzzles – the games are suitable for toddlers and small children, with five different levels of difficulty. Information on the HiPP Children’s App can be found here.

The legal basis for the processing of data connected to this is Art. 6 (1) b) GDPR (contract performance or steps prior to entering into a contract).

To improve our app offer we use Google Analytics (including Google Analytics for Firebase), a web analytics service provided by Google Inc. (“Google”). Google Analytics uses “cookies”, which are text files placed on your smartphone to help the website analyse how you use the site. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website will normally be transmitted to and stored by Google on a server in the USA. The IP anonymisation in this app is enabled so that the user’s IP address will be abbreviated and therefore anonymised by Google beforehand within the member states of the European Union or in other states signatory to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to Google for storage on a server in the USA and abridged there.

Currently, there is no ruling from the EU Commission that the USA in general provides an adequate level of data privacy protection. Google has, however, made a committment to adhere to the Privacy Shield Agreement between the EU and the USA on the processing of personal data from EU member states published by the US Department of Commerce. Further information can be found here: policies.google.com/privacy/frameworks. Further information on data protection at Google can be found at policies.google.com/privacy. More information, especially on data collection through Google Analytics for Firebase, can be found here: support.google.com/firebase/answer/6318039.

On behalf of the operator of this app, Google will use this information for evaluating your use of the app, compiling reports on website activity and providing other services for website operators relating to usage. Google will not associate your IP address transmitted by your smartphone in the context of Google Analytics with any other data held by Google. You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser; however, please note that if you do this, you may not be able to use the full functionality of this app. You can also prevent the acquisition of data relating to your use of the app (including your IP address) generated by the cookies and the processing of such data by Google:

Data protection settings for smartphones running on iOS

If you have a smartphone running on iOS, open your smartphone settings, select the HiPP Baby App icon, go to "Tracking" and move the slide bar to "Off".

Data protection settings for smartphones with Android operating system

If you have a smartphone running on an Android operating system, open the settings within the app and set the switch at "Diagnosis and Power" to "Off".

The legal basis for processing your data connected to Google Analytics is Art. 6 (1) f) GDPR (balancing of interests, based on our legitimate interest in statistical compilation of data on the use of our app and to be able to improve it, based on this data).

For further information about Google Analytics and its privacy policy, please refer to: www.google.com/intl/de/analytics/privacyoverview.html

The general privacy policy of Google can be found here:

https://www.google.de/intl/de/policies/

We also use the Firebase service to determine which advertising material leads to an app installation and how often this occurs. This evaluation is exclusively carried out in anonymised form. The Firebase service is a subsidiary of Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA. The data privacy statement of Firebase can be found here:

https://www.firebase.com/terms/privacy-policy.html

You can prevent data collection by Firebase by clicking the button for diagnosis and service to “off”, as shown above. This service is then also prevented.
