Supplementary feeding

If a mother does not produce enough breast milk, or cannot breastfeed regularly for other reasons, then an appropriate infant formula should be given as a supplement. It is important to contact a midwife or pediatrician before deciding which infant formula is appropriate, especially if the child is at risk for allergies (see HA formulas) or has an intolerance. All infant formulas that can be fed from birth (stage 1 formulas) are suitable for supplementary feeding.
