Lactose (Milk sugar)

Lactose is the Latin term for milk sugar. Lactose is found in the milk of all mammals and is the main carbohydrate in breast milk. Compared to cow's milk (4.7 g / 100 ml), lactose is present in a higher amount (7 g / 100 ml). Like breast milk, HiPP formulas contain lactose as the only carbohydrate. Lactose is an important source of energy for babies and also stimulates the growth of beneficial intestinal bacteria.
